hi, i have had a bit if spare time this evening and was browsing ebay, and came across alloy heads from the states. they have a 24cc combustion chamber out of the box. if i was to use one i would like to get some porting, larger valves and some chamber work done - not that i am planning on buying one of these, not at the moment anyway!

i was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on alloy head castings, they suposedly perform better out of the box, and any potential advantages with better head dispersion than cast iron on a fi engine

is anyone else running one?

I have one of those, although I got mine from MED. It has 21cc chambers and 35/29 valves:

Very light, you have to be careful not to throw it over your shoulder when you pick it up. Should have better heat transfer than an iron head.

Not ran it in anger yet though.

Marcel has some flow data on his website:
http://www.starchak.ca/tech/8-port.htm

Ports are actually too big, so I guess the flow limits are around the valve seats.

It's a 5 port development project.

Yes, Yukon coils.

They work at logic level, so no need for high current drivers in the ECU.

EDIT also known as "truck" coils.

I've got 4 sets. 3 of which have been allocated to engines and I was hoping to keep the 4th set as a spare.

Lots on ebay though. Search for d585 or 19005218.
