Would stick to the same style of filter, but maybe one with the additional opening on the end that has been pulled inward.

Found myself at a loose end earlier, and being a bit of a sad git I calculated the distance "travelled in anger” during last year's events..

So for four sprints and six hillclimbs I amassed the grand to total of 41 miles! Given that each event used around a jerry can of fuel, that’s a pretty piss poor fuel efficiency!! Haha! Obviously this doesn’t take into account warming up engine and the drive from/to paddock and the hillclimb return journeys. But now I'm interested I'll be taking notes of mileage at each event and recording fuel in a more scientific fashion (rather than just pouring a splash in each time).

I guess the next level of sadness and boredom will lead to me adding in the times and getting an average speed for each event… but I’m afraid it’ll be slow! Luckily I'm not that bored… yet

The downside to the nice shiny snail is that it's showing up all the surrounding components!

Christ.. Another month gone. This time last year it was running and almost ready to go, this year it's only just ready for the engine to come out.

Spent a few hours in the garage last night, but just seemed to add things to the list without taking anything off! My reorganisation of utility room/shed/garage hasn't helped progress but is beginning to appease my OCD!

I've been thoroughly impressed, as always, with other people's efforts and progress and it has spurred me on to get going on mine again.

I have either grown up or got lazy because the realisation that multiple projects are not sensible has hit me. I've sold the motorbike and I'm selling my camper *crying* On the upside it will create some spare pennies for the mini fund and I should finally get round to sorting the garage out proper like *happy*

First event is 17th April...

I've got the engine hoist and stand from Thursday so will have the lump out at the weekend.

Whilst there wasn't much happening in the engine bay, my attention wandered elsewhere...

I obviously decided that I needed some more partially completed tasks to add to the list! A fairly laborious job, but very satisfying getting free power to weight gains!

When I pulled up my floor coat I got some dry ice from the store and laid it down on the tar. Once it got cold all I had to do was give it a few hits with the hammer and it pretty much all popped off nicely.

Plus, dry ice is fun!

As above, comes off nicely when it's colder. Tried a selection of chisels and the best one I found was a small cold chisel. That and a bucket of patience!

Wear ey protection!

I did this 10 years ago, I seem to remember using a 2" and a 1" chissel

Blunt the chissel very slightly so you leave less marks. White spirit cleans up the black marks afterwards.

TM disease has set in! I used cellulose thinners or petrol to get rid of the residue.

I weighed mine (sad bastard I know), came out at about 14 lbs.

I used a air chisel from machine mart, the stuff flew off

My clubby hasn't got this at all :)
I have taken it off before on another mini. Used a heat gun and a scraper.

Just used an old screwdriver... a lil tap on the edge and massive chunks would fly off with hardly any residue... i guess ive just been lucky with mine?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

We use it at work. Putting it in a bottle then leaving it just in front of a lorry wheel is fun :).

First the wok... Now the floor... When the engine is out, the subframe will be just asking for it!

Trying really hard to avoid the urge to get rid of the glass, metal doors, interior and change classes given all the hassle trying to keep everything in line with the regs. But I'd be on my own in a class for our championship and I like the competition I have with my current group.

In championship related news, got our regs approved by the MSA after some serious faffing. Been trying to find a way around the new permitted tyre restrictions for road-going classes... In short, we couldn't so no more Yokohama A048R's for us *angry*

Out of the remaining list, I've decided to sling some Avon ACB10's on the front, anyone got any experience with them?

Just the residue to go...

9kg saved and another kilo of unnecessary bits that won't go back in. Worth the effort!
