hi

im looking at places to mount my oil cooler.

this is the best place in terms of out of the way of everything, but it wont be in direct airflow.

my thoughts are there will be enough air whooshing about under the bonnet that it should still be ok.

im going to fit a oilstat aswell. a 90 degree c one if i can find one.

what do you guys think? should i find a better location for it?

thanks
josh

Could you make some ducting to lead to it from under the wing?

On a road car it doesn't have to be in the airflow.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

dont solid mount the cooler. have some sort of shock absorbing material between it and the brace bar.

i bought a setrab oil cooler and i read in the fitting instructions not to sold mount. as this causes damage with the vibrations going through it. anyway that being said. a mocal one split on me in germany right before i went on the nurburg ring. this was more than likely caused by the solid mounted fitting. i then bought a setrab one which stated do not solid mount. just a heads up as i know a lot of people have had oil cooler breakage issues.

however, how do you professionally mount an oilcooler? i used some old fuel pipe with some longer bolts as my quick fix in germany outside a pizza shop! haha.

thanks simon that is another way of doing it. do you have problems with speed bumps and the cooler hitting?

thats a very good point johnny, i will weld some brackets to the brace bar, and then mount the cooler to it with something like this between it.

do you think that would work?
