ok first things first the oil cooler:

ignore the crappy brackets from minispares, is the pipe work layout ok? as you can see they raise up quite high before dropping, will the oil flow through ok?

now the intercooler:

ive had enough of people commenting about my over heating problem due to the fact that my car has such a large radiator(?) so im hiding the intercooler in the engine bay and fitting the grill.
Theres space behind it for the air to flow through, but once ive put the wide slat grill on it will cover quite alot of it, though i plan to cutaway some of the metal backplate of the grill to improve airflow

am i just being paranoid?

can anyone tell me of an effecient unit of a smaller size?

or should i have just left it as it was?

Yeah, a Kenlowe fan in the inner wing could really be a good help. The oil cooler should help as well.... and make sure the gearbox fins are clean - it really helps cooling.

Personally, This looks like a backward step... Oil cooler is well and good, but Why have you moved the intercooler?

"""ive had enough of people commenting about my over heating problem due to the fact that my car has such a large radiator(?) so im hiding the intercooler in the engine bay and fitting the grill"""

I've not a clue what you're talking about here - sounds like you've been spending too much time on 'other' mini forums...
The later grill has a generous curve in it, and the slats sit forwards of the front face of the slam-panel. I've trimmed my grill such that my intercooler is hidden nicely behind it. I think that's all you need to do with yours.

If you're still having cooling problems, why don't you follow the example of someone else who's had problems, and has now sorted them - ie Jimster.

youe mis-understood loads of idiots werent understanding that it was an intercooler

were the intercooler was before it stuck out too much to run a grill, but i get what your saying, now i can move it back slightly so that the grill shoukld fit on over the intercooler

the over heating problem has gone now thankfully, i was finding it was ok without the mechanical fan, just using an electric one, though now the weather is getting warm i may need to go back to the drawing board

anyhow back to the garage i go

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

first is first graypride

keep away from the "idiots"*wink*

just a thought but .......
if you have enough cooling capacity?

the other trick is to go for a 74deg thermostat
this places the engine in the optimum range for power & cooling range

*happy*

dont even get me started on the gearbox, and im fed up of explaining that the rattling from my engine is not because it is knackered but cos it has sc drops, then i have to explain what they are and why, im thinking about getting a sticker for the back window saying "YES, ITS SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE THAT"

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!i was stopped in traffic and some nonce came running up and told me that my clutch release bearing was knackered, piss off!!!!!!!

oh it does wind me up!, so much so that i avoid going near town in it

anyway, calm down and back to the thread

im already running a 74deg thermostat
....but there are no cooloing problems at the mo
