All this talk about cams has got me thinking

Is there a better cam for the 7 port than the ph2? car has to be MOTable but still looking for something around the 200 bananna mark

if in theory there was somthing better but unavalable off the shelf i would happily have one made

thoughts??

ph2 was good in mine, as was the 266, and that's with 1.5 rockers.

I think with injection you wont need to be to worried about emissions due to the better atomosation.

what year emmisions do you need to meet?

Pauls favorite 274 would be a good choice,

wide LCA to help with emmisions,

I'd be tempted to try something a bit more extreme to take advantage of the 7 ports and match the short intake runners.

I have read of a 276 on a 7port turbo, no idea where it was now but it made 203bhp iirc. surely for a road built motor a 274 would be at the limit of driveability?

The 274 is actually much, much tamer than the 276. Somewhere between the MG Metro and the Ph2.

I have a 274 in mine that will be for sale as soon as I remove it from the block.

I reckon that a 276 cut on a 112 deg LCA would be good in a 7 port turbo.

If the turbo is big enough, say a GT25, then a 276 inlet with a 286 exhaust on a 112 LCA.

However, both would be pointless with the Metro exhaust manifold.

Short middle runners kill torque/VE on the inner cylinders - even more than charge robbing. A long duration cam won't cope.

274 would be a good choice.
