just continuing stripping more weight off me car but was wondering if its all gonna be pointless if i put a full cage in there, does anybody know how much they weigh roughly. was gonna start buying all carbon bits soon and maybe a beam axle for the rear has anybody done a weight list comparison for the major parts, i think its mainly my wheels which are quite heavy (8*13's) am gonna get some 7x10's hopefully as this should sort the handling as well, grateful for any help

The cage helps in keeping the body rigid - you gain more in handling than you lose in its weight. Minis can handle badly if you remove weight from the back - all the Minis in Malta which I know and have the rear bar in place of the rear subframe are extremely tail-happy in tight corners... Dont lighten the car too much... rigidity is much more important, for cornering as well as for your own safety.

I donated, but somehow didn't get the label! :(

I'm confident that mine is more rigid than a standard mini.

JEEEEEZ!!!! No can't go that far! Rear has to be trimmed and has to hold all the ICE!!! :d
but for a serious racer, this sure looks the business

The correct tubing helps keep the weight down aswell - not the scaffold spec tubes of yesteryear!

theres a lot of rubbish going round on weights, does anyone actually know how much your average city (curbweight) would be. I dont trust the haynes book values and have not other references for weights?

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

I am probably wrong but i estimated that a bogo standard old mayfair would weigh in around 740-800kg
