Took off the diff side cover to replace gasket and (hopefully) cure mahoosive oil leak. Question: Is it normal for the endfloat of the output shaft to be 2mm or so and nothing to be between the circlip and the side cover? or am I missing a thrust washer or some other widget?

There should be a steel washer, about 1.5mm thick. Endfloat doesn't matter I seriously doubt it! |

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |
