I think most peeps use the SC copper gasket or a modified BK450 mini head gasket. Ill be using the BK 450 modded with extra holes on my build.

Lots have dry decked their k-heads without issue, I believe. I will be dry decking mine when the time comes.

Make sure you do a good job. Matty had a nightmare with his welder, he managed to leave several pin holes. My welder said it welds really well once you get the heat into it, and I never had the pin hoe issue that matty did.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

cool that sounds like the best option then. i like the idea of using the mini head gasket and i assume he does too thats why he marked them to be welded. Cheers for the words of wisdom i would luv to do this conversion myself but just dont have the funds.

Hope these help give you a better idea.

Word of wraning, take your time re drilling the new stud holes. They will wander where they intersect with the old holes that have been plugged

Note that the welding doesn't need to be perfect so long as it doesn't leak. Remember that you are now simply sealing the cylinders with the gasket and that the gasket need serve no other purpose than that. That said, if you are doing it for some one else, it is probibly in your interest to get it as perfect as possible, even though it won't really matter. You can see one or two areas on the head face in the picture below that were a little lower than the rest after a skim.
