Hiya im looking to possibly build up a dry deck engine and also a friend is doing a bmw head conversion. I have hear people using various different materials and different types of plugs. i understand that ideally you want a material that expands at the same rate or slightly quicker to keep a good seal. I had been told to get cast iron thread but i cant find anywhere also been told of brass plugs which are bit easier to find. Has anyone got any advice or links to where i could get the bits.

Mate i just use Grub srews in my block that i got off ebay, Me and T@z will be doing this soon on his head and block, I was thinking we could do a How To on it.

I used brass and sat it about half a mm below the deck, if I ever want to remove them to use a std head I can just unwind them out. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

i found this site a while ago for plugs for my oil galleries. i completly forgot about it untill i saw that pic.

Imperial equivelants (sp?) Are available if you google it. i have imperial core plug grub screws but lost my tap for them Yes i moved to the darkside |
