Hiya im looking to possibly build up a dry deck engine and also a friend is doing a bmw head conversion. I have hear people using various different materials and different types of plugs. i understand that ideally you want a material that expands at the same rate or slightly quicker to keep a good seal. I had been told to get cast iron thread but i cant find anywhere also been told of brass plugs which are bit easier to find. Has anyone got any advice or links to where i could get the bits.
Thanks James

I used brass and sat it about half a mm below the deck, if I ever want to remove them to use a std head I can just unwind them out.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

where did you get the allen head brass bungs???

I was thinking some of these would be perfect, as I started reading the thread. Then found your pictures.
I was also thinking that some brass bungs with a slot cut in them if I can't fine allen head ones, which isn't so good.

Do these need to be brass? Or could I use stainless steel?
