So, I've just lifted out the engine this morning... I've added a few photos below to see what you think of the setup, maybe some of you might be able to identify the engine?

the photos are of the push-rods, not the valves |

Looks like a metro T3, metro fuel pressure regulator and a 1275 A+ engine. The only way to know for sure what's in it is to pull it apart. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Almost nothing on the outside of the engine will 100% identify what it is, as apbellamy says you need to get the head off and check the obvious things, although get yourself a haynes or something as you should ideally know the basics before stripping down an engine, like what valves are! I'm not taking the piss, but you don't wanna go damaging anything and learning the hard way. |

Ah yes of course, too much haste to upload the photos! I do know what a valve is (and a push rod), check these photos out from the correct side. Still hard enough to see with the springs in the way, the stems that is.

if you have a look at the top of the stem, the original turbo exhaust valves are noticably larger |

Yup, upon close inspection the stems are not noticeably different in size. So not original turbo exhaust valves me thinks! |

Also, keep the dump valve. You might not like the noise, but it helps protect the compressor. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

I'm in two minds about the dump valve? It's not that I hate the noise... I just think they are a bit 'Look at me!'

It's got a float bowl chamber extension on it. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

yes, with out it your risk compressor stall and potentially breaking your turbo. More so if you run more than factory boost On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

dump valves are not cool! Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet
