If anyone can give me some advise on how best to fix the hand rail to the newel post that would be much appreciated, please bear in mind I am not the best at carpentry but willing to give it a go. I have looked at this system http://www.tradestairs.com/acatalog/stair-accessories.html, but there must be something simpler. Thanks

I generally dowel and screw fix and then plug the screw hole; it depends on the exact detail though
