A comment just made by Simon in one of the other threads has just reminded me about buying cheap equals buying twice....

While working on the car yesterday, I noticed the near side engine mount was starting to separate. I've seen this a thousand times but these are effectively brand new (been fitted a couple of years but engine has never run).

I had a look on the shelf and found a couple of mounts with the captive nuts- they came with a car and I would never normally use them. Yesterday, I was up against it and decided to try one to get everything back together. I was gobsmacked to find the holes didn't line up with the engine bracket.

So 2 different mounts and both equally poor quality..........

I can't recall where I got them from as it has been a few years.

With regard to the captive nut mounts, I always expected them to be a pain, I just never imagined I'd have to file out one of the holes to fit it to the rad bracket!

I had RS Turbos and bought a lot of rubbish parts. Then got back into minis around 2003 and bought hundreds of parts from Minispares. I have been pleasantly surprised that most of those parts worked well
