I have been givin a kawasaki ge2200a generator today I was told if I could get it going I could have it, so some new fuel and a new spark plug it fired up, so far so good, then I plug some stuff in to see if it would run them I was working my way up to the compreeser when it just stoped working. The 110v side is still working so I am not sure whats going on anyone got any ideas??

Pop them out and do a continuity test across. If they won't reset you may have fried them with too much load, what were you running?

on the basis of your model numbers, the generator is rated at 1700w; a 3hp sip compressor motor is rated at 2200w. probably doesn't answer why it wont reset but probably answers why it tripped in the first place

OOO i see thats not good, I am a dick sometimes,, if i can get this working it would be great as its only cost me £5 in fuel and a old spark plug so far.

I would say 8 amps is about your limit. We had a similar size genny when we went racing and it would not boil a kettle - very poor show!

with my limited experience, it should run anything up to a load of 1700w; would be good for lighting, chargers and power tools

From Sheffield now live in York tha noz

A normal kettle is around 2kw, when we used to use genny's onsite we used travel kettles or they do low wattage camping kettles around 1kw, they take about 10 mins to boil though! Another thing to note obviously a site gen so not great for computers/anything electronic there are inverter gens for a smooth output for that sort of thing.
