Hi all need some help. Drained the gt engine oil tonight and found the lump of metal in the photo. It is bearing material as far as I can tell and looks to be the same circumference as the end of the camshaft, oil pump end. Any ideas other than mine. Many thanks Adam.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

yes i must agree, cam bearing ........... you must have been trying !

what brings to mind is wank oil thin snake oil like, 5/10 grade or less ? in the engine or oil which has never been change for manyyyyy!!! miles.

also incorrect installed cam bearings and or oil pump failed as the cause of the above...................

as graham says shit the bed,
you need to investigate pronto!

to be honest ive had the mini for over a year sitting in my workshop, replaced the floors and other panels, then left it. sold it to my brother recently and he is getting it ready for the road. he was changing the oil and filter to find that. hasnt been run or driven in my ownership. feel bad for him though.

Id say yes you can. Oversize in terms of the actual hole they go into, not camshaft journal size.

Either way, it would be advisable to take that engine apart immediately lol

Ok so the first picture is the writing on the end of the cam. The second is the clubman getting ready for a whole new front end i.e inner wings, outer wings, "A" panels, front panels. Lots of work to be done!!
