After a 3 month painful wait from an engine rebuilder I finally got my cylinder head back after a re guide.

After having given him bronze guides, it came back with irons. Apparently he cocked up 2 of them so replaced them and cut the charge of cutting the seats in. Obviously I'm a little annoyed, but my question is are they okay to use? it's not like I'm running massive bananas, I'm set to 0.4 bar.

Cheers.

Low boosting for now.

Iron ones are half the price of the bronze ones, but will be fine for your boost.

Cheers guys dad said to me it would be fine but he cut a tenner off the price too so it's not all bad.
Now do I stretch some stem seals over when re fitting? Or do I run without? I just don't want it to ploom out smoke again :'( lol

The MRA ones fit well, but he went bust so they are NLA.

Use seals on inlets only.

No, but for slightly modified engines which are run hard occationally I would. Especially on a turbo engine with iron exhaust guides.

Are the valves std material or stainless, as I thought you couldn't use stainless valves with iron guides
Could be wrong though

I was told last week that i couldnt run std valves with bronze guides, does that go for the other way around.

I disagree. We ran them on the exhausts in the upside down skip at 25+ psi with no problem. We also put them on John's clubman with no issues (stopped it smoking like steam train too).

They were iron guides before the re guide so I'm assuming that they are the original sodium filled ones, is there an easy way of telling them apart?!
