With the breaking of my car progressing at some pace now I have been considering selling the shell as a rolling shell, but I can't get my head around the current prices people are paying.

I'm talking run of the mill shells, not rare mint Mk1's or anything like that, a friend of mine just bought a rough looking rolling shell with a fortek kit fitted for £150, but I've also seen standard clean rolling shells up for 3k+

Mine is a 1980 shell, front end chopped, F Glass 2 piece front, zero rust, undersealed, coilovers, rear beam axle, all new (2500 miles) hubs bearings etc, superfins, minisport 4pots, steering, wiring loom, 7x13 minilites, stripped inside, no seats or fuel tank, internally run fuel, brake and power lines, glass windows, pedals, master cylinders, servo.

I have no idea what its worth / what people are willing to pay, or if I'm better of breaking that too and keeping the shell on its own for any future mini project of my own especially if its only going to be worth a few hundred quid.

The trouble is when people buy a rolling shell its for a project. No one wants to spend the money. Mk1 escort on the other hand people pay through the nose for.

you would be better striping the 4 pots and selling with std brakes...

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I think I would look at putting a standard 998 or whatever in it so you can sell it as a working car, I am sure it will be easier to sell like that.

I did think about dropping an engine in but my thinking was that if I put in a 998 then there is a good chance the buyer would want to swap it anyway. Selling it as a sell gives the buyer an engine choice of their own.

Calling it a 'Shell' really undervalues it I think as it is a complete car just missing the engine (and one or two other bits), but technically thats all it is, a rolling shell so has to be sold as such.

I mocked up an eBay ad, cant decide if I should say start an auction off at £1000, or put it up as a classified for say £3000 with offers to see what people are prepared to pay.

This is the ad:
