a quick question for those running or have run one of these;

what are the earlier supercharged cars like on fuel about town?

my dads 52 plate is not bad but not great, he really is the slowest driver you would ever see, rarely revs over 2k and he panicked and phoned me the first time he heard the supercharger whine he had had it 6 months too

and it did 260miles on 40quid about 38-40mpg going down to mitp (again 65 all the way lol)

Our lass gets about 28mpg from hers, she doesn't hang about in it and also sits in stop start traffic quite a lot.

Mum gets late 20's round town but does earlie 30 on a run

When i had my JCW it did 23mpg around town and on a run sitting at 80mph it would return 34mpg.

The turbo build has finally started

on a standard 03 plate S we got 42.2 on a run from wrexham to corby

round town its roughtly 30 - 32 mpg depends on traffic and so on :/

ok, looks like i'll bin the idea. I've been running around in a borrowed clio while the Audi is in getting its facelift and, while the car lacks any inspiration, has been handy about town.

The office is now 5mins drive from the house as opposed to 50 mins previously and the current daily hardly warms by the time I get in. That and 23 avg mpg in town has got me thinking a smaller 2nd car could be a worth a try when i'm working locally.

The Bini S ticked a fair few boxes and there are a few coming up in the £3.5k mark. I could consider the Cooper but I prefer the S spec and appearance. I could make a look-a-like but to be honest I'd rather just buy someting to use straight out the box

My clio tce 1149 100ps does 37 arround town plus traffic but normally spirited driving did 600miles on a long trip to france averaging 65-70mph showing 44mpg from a mixed spirited drive out today. Easy remap for 250 up to 120+bhp and still roughly the same arround town mpg

The Clio doesn't do it for me Paul. While I'm not a huge bini fan, it ticks a few of the boxes given the price range I'm possibly in

Rob, if you can be arsed coming through my work(motherwell) your welcome to try my bini, its not an "s" just a cooper but im enjoying it on the commute. bought as a fixer-upper so bottom rung of the ladder in terms of age and mileage but you may find it has enough poke to meet your needs and for 3-4k youll pick up a much nicer cooper than you will an s.

Liam, there are a few 03 &53 cars now in the budget

Get a turbo one if u can afford it, my Mrs has a 08 jcw an gets just over 40mpgs on a regular basis. Her commute is about 25 miles each way, with half made up of motorway and half of traffic. I love it, I'd buy it off her if I could, hit the sport button when uve got some space an it turns into a weapon

I never normaly got more than mid to late 20's with normal driving. Caning it i had 16 once!!

turbo cars are way over budget; this is simply a cheep 2nd car runabout so i can't justify spending fortunes. Any more money and i'd put myself in a new A1 on a commercial lease deal
