We live on a hill here, but some of the roads were bad the other day. Coming round a corner and puddles are covering the road! On the whole it hasnt been bad around me, there was some flood warnings for some parts of the county who live near the large rivers.

My best mats front drive is a huge puddle stretching out over a wide foot bath and then a carrage way of the road...

Im worried as my current house is at the bottom of a hill in a dip, if it gets worse we may get flooded *frown*

Woke to see a river running down the road :( About the third time this month though.

Big stone wall has come down in the garden due to pressure from higher ground on the other side. About 2m high and 3m long. Currently trying to clear up the rubble to see the extent of the damage. Job for a builder me thinks.

Warwick.

Had an automated call from the met or something like that.
I live right next to the a river and it was a good 7ft or so high.
Still not as bad as in 1997 when most people localy were watching incase the river broke, it actualy came up the drains in front of the houses and the road had about a foot of water.

My workshop unit got flooded out on Weds morning, but emergency drainage works meant it stayed dry last night.

It's been flooded out several times this year due to the scumbag bastard Vets surgery next door re-routing the land-drains (and then tampering with the redug ditches), so I didn't lose anything this time round.

Rural Suffolk

It's not the rainfall that's my problem, we are quite high up for rural Sufffolk, but the wind (which has finally died down) is my concern.

We have a mature Poplar in our front garden, about 35m tall (yes, seriously, 35m) and after 24hrs battering by the wind with its roots in sodden ground I estimate a 5 degree lean.

It will be a travesty to the environment to have it cut down but I think I have no choice.

But on the positive side I've seen three stupid wind turbines - the small 10m high ones in peoples gardens with about enough output to boil a single kettle but only on the days the wind is blowing, that the government pay for through our electricity bills, seriously disabled - one totally flattened.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Have you got any pics of the turbine rod, yes get that tree sawn down pronto! You don't want it coming through Your roof when you least expect it in the future.

We are kind of at risk from a flood. Quite close to a small river. So far the fields around us have taken all the water as they should.

We have a large dead tree in the neighbours garden that shed a rather large branch on thursday, just missing the greenhouse and taking out several small trees. Another high wind could bring us a problem with the rest of the tree.

Somewhere around Swindon

Had a chat with one of the recovery guys at work last night he was just going to bed after 20hrs all he picked up were stranded hydro'd cars and never left a 10 mile radius of swindon, at one point the water was highr than the headlights on his Daf 18 ton truck

On the plus side if anyone has a bmw i am sure there will be plenty of parts around due to the stupid location of the cold air intake

Interesting to hear the EA claiming to have made significant improvements in the standard of flood defence in recent years.

Laughable when you consider that they have actively sacrificed flood defence maintenance for the sake of flaura and fauna. Too many homes are still at risk from moderate events.
