hi all.

is i said in the introduction section i am a blow virgin. read about it for some 2 years now and want to get building now.
the problem is that i want something that has not been done allot (not that i can find and probably the first in belgium) i want to build a eaton m 45 blow trough setup. i found some nice examples on your forum.

here is what i learned so far.
1 my normal hiff 44 can be converted to turbo spec simple by using a turbo rebuild kit and sealing up the top end (have that covered)

2 i will need a plenum chamber and although its possible to build yourselves its better not to.

questions... what does it do and can i get one from a different non mini style car and adapt it?

3 what i think to understand is this... the blower comes first than i need a tube (and maybe intercooler) to the plenum chamber who is connected to the hiff. on the plenum chamber i need a blow off valve. .... am i right?
so next i will need to find a different inlet manifold so i can connect a vacuum hose up to the blow off valve?

i also need a return feed from the carb to the fuel tank.

but how do i calculate how much boost i will have and do i need a different pully on the eaton ( i know i need a mpi pulley on the water pump and a different on on the alternator)... witch size would i need here?

like i said... i have the skills to build it without a doubt but cant understand the turbo stuff.

greetings:)

I think it may be a case of doing a search on here . Many members spend hours posting lengthy detailed conversion build threads, they get a little frustrated when people ask about something that has been covered 2 or more times . It's also best to do some searching on here as it gives you a far better knowledge of what to do and how to do it rather than someone just giving you a list of parts , believe me I have first hand experience of this and it was costly ! .

To address some of your points , you can adapt the inlet manifold by drilling and tapping an off take ( obviously remove first ) . You need an upgraded fuel pump and yes a return ( minimum 8mm diameter ).

I would research on the set up others have done on here and perhaps PM the people that have done this , most are happy to share info but again don't just ask " what do I need" perhaps ask how they did it etc... .

Also think about your engine , does it need rebuilding first ? , also you will need to lower the compression to allow for the extra pressure .

I am afraid this is where my knowledge of supercharging stops but I got all that from here reading lots of build threads .

Hope this helps

Hi im from Holland and I dont know where you live in Belgium, but I'm doing a blow through set up with a M45(bini charger).
If you speak dutch(is easier!). But you can take a look here or ask about choices to make. I live in Someren.
But what already has been told it's all about choices and finances!

1. Yes.

2. To keep the fuel pressure in the carb higher than that of the incoming air to stop it leaning out under boost.

3. Yes. you can usually add a take of for a vac hose to most aftermarket manifold.

You will need to search the internet for pulley ratios for the m45, then work out how big your pulleys need to be ( big pulley diameter divided by small pulley diameter equals

Get frustrated? Because I said I have read most things of the forum and I just looking for a confirmation if what I understand is correct?

Hallo Rammie, welkom..

With regard to boost; Stuart Gurr told me when using std crank and eaton pulley: 13psi @6000rpm 15psi@7000rpm

This will be dependant on engine set-up but you have an indication.

Good luck,
Han

so that's a standard mpi pulley i guess
13 psi seems more than sufficient i guess
