Chaps

I need to do the valve stem seals. Search turned up nothing so the question is,

Has anyone tried using the thin rope down the spark plug hole to hold the valves in place trick and did it work?

I don't 'need' to pull the head for anything else so was hoping to leave it on the engine.

Yes done it plenty of times, works fine.

My bro made a tool that fixed to a head stud to compress the springs. Just a big leaver.
