The doors on a mk1/2 are much smaller ans a different shape so won't fit :( On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:

i have thought about this a few times for my car. the best way that i could see would be to fit mk3 on doors, but alter the profile of the door on the front lower corner. i would then look at fitting mk1 a panels, and hinges. both door and the hinge/a panel would have to be reinforced significantly, especially as the later doors weigh so much. i have not done this conversion but those are my thoughts, cheers, dan |

What about lightening the door big time and fitting some force racing hinges?

Mk1 rear 1/4 panels and doors are totally different shapes to later cars but you can do it with some half decent sheet metal working ability I seriously doubt it! |

It looks ok but prefer the mk1 a panels and curved front corner. To reinforce the mk3 a panel to take the weight of the door i would guess it would be better to take the a panel off anyway. So for a bit more work to change the profile of the door panel and fit the mk1 a panel, the outcome will be much better. I have found if things arent quite right on my car it buggs me for a while and then end up re- doing it |

The bottom corner of the MK 3 door is round inside anyway, so you could just modify the corner and make a curved bit for the A panel to suite. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

If you are very careful you can unpeel the doorskin on the front bottom corner, cut back the frame, trim up the skin and wrap it around the frame again to give the look of a factory job.
I seriously doubt it! |
