Hi
Can anyone explain to me in dummy terms what a dump valve does and what is the difference between a piston and diaphram type. How are these things connected up and do you need one specific for the boost you are running. I know these sound like stupid questions but I really don't know and would like to.
Cheers
Dave

the best one to get is a adjustable piston type as you can adjust the amount dumped but if you dump to much you tons of lag between gear changes.

to be honest it realy a gary boy adition its suposed to stop the turbo stalling between gear changes.

it doesnt realy matter if you put it into the plenum or jusst after the turbo ive driven in both arears and there is no differnce.

the pipe need to be plumbe in on a take off after the carb on the manifold some were.

i used the servo take off.

sorry for the spelling.

i thought the piston type's oil rings swell, read that somewhere, not suitable for a series or something

Thanks lads. So the bottom line appears to be that its more a flash harry device for making a noise than of any real practical use, is that correct or am I missreading the replies?
Does the standard overboost valve on the plenum need to be blocked off if you use one of these?

sorry misread your question, ive been told to keep the plenums as they are if not they have a tendancy to fuck the carb settings up to all over the place.

the butterfly has a little valve init, if you change this to a stndard flat butterfly then this will help total flow of the carb.
