Hi all,

I just wanted to find out if I was to buy a set of adjustable shocks, there are 2 options avaliable:

1. Standard Height

2. Lowered Height

Now my question is, I will be looking to run Hi-Lo's, adjustable rear brackets & adjustable bottom arms and adjustable tie-rods up front, all bushes are uprated and the car is running on 7 x 10's.

But which shock do I choose, do I go for the lowered ones or the standard ones? Would the lowered ones make a big diffrence in how low my car can sit?

All help is really appreciated.

Thanks

Bobby

Im not 100% but am pretty sure you have to run the lowered ones if you are lowering the ride height via hi-los. I think otherwise the std height ones are too long and for instance if you go over a bump, hill or something to make the wheel drop, the the knuckle or donut can come out of its seat.

maybe wrong though, but thats how my mind sees it.

It depends how low you make it.

If your slamming it then go with the lowered ones. If your only lowering by a cm then you should be fine.

Mossy is correct the lowered dampera re really to reduce droop. although in theory ther will mean that the damper won't bottom out either.

At the front you can raise the height of the top damper mount as well.

I would like to slam the car to get it low, so looks like the lowered ones are the option.

Cheers for that

I made the mistake of purchasing the standard ones as i thought you only needed lowered if drastically lowering it. I was wrong. My "standard" front ones bottomed out. The rears did not but when i jacked the car up the dougnut came off the subframe so i had to careful lower the car while positioning it each time.

Ive now changed the full set to the lowered ones and its perfect, bar the oil leaking from the adjustment knobs. (soon to be sent for a warranty replacement)

you'll need lowered ones. I've just found that out the hard way (see my thread from the other day) and I've just ordered a set.

Somewhere around Swindon

How far you lower a mini depends on how bad your spine is and/or how bad you want it to be

I fitted the lowed ones after having standed for two reasons one I wanted the car slightly lower and the other was I am running springs all round and the rear ones use to rattle because the travel on standed was allowing the radius arms to come away from the springs, thats why they rattled..
