Just out of interest when dinged a standard a plus crank makes a nice long ring, whereas my fully worked one makes more of a dull ring that subsides faster.

So, is this dull ring a hint that it needs crack testing or is it just a by product of the fettling process?

If you have a worked crank sitting on the shelf, please ding it for me!

Last thing I want to do is bolt it all back together and the crank fail.
