Way off topic, but need a bit of advice.

I'm looking at buying a decent laptop. It doesn't need to be powerful enough to run games etc, but should be quick enough for daily stuff and cost less than £350?

Anyone know of any good deals going?

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Saw an advert last night for a 750Gb Toshiba for £349 from Argos of all places with supposedly £99 of stuff with it free (laptop bag, other such rammle).

I've had three Tosh laptops now, always have been good for me, never had any hardware failures, first one got pinched, second one did about 8 years including a few 12 second runs in the DON datalogging (which is what finished it off I think) and had the current one about 4 years. Will buy another as and when I need a replacement.

I've had a couple of laptops off these guys. http://www.tier1online.com/

They have new and refurbished ones. I got a grade A IBM thinkpad for £127 about 4 years ago. still going strong.

I also got a new Toshiba for around £350 (list price £800), it's been great.

Lot's of choice anyway.

Theres gunna be a reyt bray up this weekend haha,

btw on a more constructive note:

Ive never really liked Toshibas, got alot in my schools along with HP's and Dells, and out of the 3 I get most grief with them, either failed HDD or failed Wireless Cards...

Im not saying theyre babbarr as its only 1in50 but its always the toshibas.

Cheers chaps. I wasn't expecting such a hive of activity from such a dull, off-topic subject. Lol

Thanks for the link John.

Mike, this will be a present. Do you have any new stuff or is it all covered in the remains of packed lunches?

Sorry Rick I know nothing about advanced spec for big image processing, I guess Matt Woods would be the man to advise about this. However what I can recommend is an external USB hard drive to store all your files on, this will help the lappy a bit by freeing up some HDD space to use. They are quite cheap and big sizes, o have had mine a few years now it's 500gb but I'm sure there will be much bigger now.
