Not sure if the rich afr rules this out but I had a lumpy idle on mine, the cause was an air leak in the end. Have you tried brake cleaner on similar on all the joins?

What sort of RPM is it ticking over at?

What ignition control do you have, have you tried advancing the timing at tickover?

The vans map is/was quite aggressive at low rpm. this caused Craig some running problems at low revs

it's a balancing act mate.

advance/mixture/throttle idle screw position.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

i believe the standard static timing of a metro turbo was 7 degrees @ 1500rpm with a distributor.

You could try setting the idle advance to about 8-10 degrees then adjust the idle screw and mixture screw. what needle do you have in there?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

the one that came with your carb. at least it runs and no smoke. think il be buying a bdd and start from the begining. the needle thats in has been profiled and the mixture screw was all the way in before i adjust to get it to start.

I've emailed you some maps to get you started, try the 22 degree one. It should be pretty safe. Also it would be a good idea to get a BDD in there as a starting point.

Check the cold start mechanism on the carb is not leaking internally, not uncommon.

Make sure the engine fully warmed up. Set idle advance at 15 degrees and then tune idle air and AFR to ~14.7 to get to your idle rpm. now adjust the cold start linkage as per the book

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

The fault here is not the vans map, on idle you must find the the fault.

IMO as the lads say that map is very aggressive, I would definitely. Adjust any timing figures over 30 degrees. To 30 and any boost @ 7 and above 7 pounds to 10 pounds drop to 28, and anything above 10 pounds to 13 drop 24 degrees And anything above 10 drop to 22 and take it from there,

This is born out of experience, on the rolling road and a smashed piston

There are no two engines the same, better to be safe that it all end in tears.
