On saturday i got 4 new tyres fitted to my BMW, the flat tyre light on the dash came on, on the way to work so I called in to the BP to check the air, when I noticed that all 4 rims had been marked / chipped. So I called in to the tyre place that fitted the tyres to see if we could sort it out. I asked to speak to the boss and I was told to sit in the office. After 40mins of sitting about I reminded them I was there and asked what they were going to do about my chipped wheels !! At this point I was moved into the workshop area to stand away from other customers and the boss asked me to come back on Friday, so I said no I want to show you now!

Without seeing the damage it is hard to tell if minor refurb would be enough. Having said that, refurb should be around £50-£65 a wheel.

Well it's a large place and no I never looked when I picked it up as its not the sort of thing I was expecting to find! The marks are smaller than your little finger nail, 1 on each wheel where the fitting machine must of started off. One of the boss said that it does say on the invoice that some marks may occur. He was saying that it's about £70 to £100 to refurb each wheel!!

Personally I would not stand for it, they will have to stand the cost of a proper refurb, they can and should be able to fit and remove tyres without marking the paint on the wheels.

Bosh, there you go, make a complaint to the credit card company, tell them that it will cost you £500 to have the wheels properly repaired, see what they have to say.

I certainly think it is worth an ask, you may be pleasantly surprised. As an example a few years ago a friend bought a washing machine from one of the big retailers, currys etc. One month as it was out of warranty it crapped out, he got a repairman out who gave him a big quote for new this that and the other. He got in touch with where he bought it, they fobbed him off. Went back to credit card co, complained that it was an expensive item and should gave lasted longer, they agreed and refunded him in full. Edited by Tom Fenton on 10th Dec, 2012.

What a pisser.. I had the same with some of Carl's wheels that they turned into 50 p's... I agreed for the tyres to be given foc to cover the cost for Carl to fit some new centres so how about two free tyres. It's a lot easier for them to loose stock than pay for a refurb.. I mean raising PO's and invoices and the like...

I think the thing is that there is 2 blokes that own the place, one is going to come to some sort of deal, and one don't give a fuck by the looks of it as he was saying words like, at your own risk and so on. I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Simon, by using youyr credirt card you have effectively bought the tyres from the credit card company, you now tell the credit card company their supplier has damaged your wheels and you want it fixing .

Wonder if they bothered to clean all the old rubber and crap off the inside rim of the wheel though, major cause of tyres deflating as tiny bit of debris can affect the tyre and give it a slow puncher to be honest Id tell them you ant a full refurb but out of house and they can pay the price of it, they have damaged your wheels so its you right to have them corrected if they don't comply tell them you'll get trading standards involed they'll soon crack and do something. |
