911 carrera 2. 2 wheel drive version always been said to be the best one other than the turbo.

The turbo build has finally started

Why the 4wd one then? If I was just choosing a standard 911 it'd be the plain old manual carrera 2 maybe an s.

Depends on the budget. Anywhere up to £12k-ish I would go for a Boxster rather than a low end 996 911. After this, it would be a 991 of some sort.

996 Turbo is some serious metal for the money now.

It would have to be the turbo s for me. The looks, the speed, everything

One of my dream cars tbh

I wouldn't generally consider a porker, but i certainly would not consider the boxter. It is about as desirable as a brown 924

I would say it depends on budget. I have no idea how much Porsche you get for what money, but I think I'd rather have a really nice Boxster over a tatty/neglected 911 if that was the choice.

Love the way people who cant afford a porsche say a boxster is a poor mans porsche

I agree with Tom i would rather have a decent boxster than a neglected 911 also i feel you are less likely to get a thrashed boxster also it depends if you want a cab? 911 cabs fetch a premium finding a good boxster cab will be easier and cheaper

Personally i like the 964's

None of them. They are for posers. Go and find yourself something subtle and relatively rare.

I was going to say exactly the same. The 911 and boxster are different cars. The Boxster is an excellent car in its own right and I would much rater have a decent Boxster than a tatty 911. If it has to be a 911 though, then a 1980s 911 turbo with the big whale tail would be my choice.

Like any car, there is tatty ones and good ones.

The older 911s (964s and 993s) are now really only owned by entusiasts. Where as Boxters and Cocksters are still owned by people who could or couldbn't give a shit.

So finding a decent one of any is the same process. Learn the common faults and avaid them.

If buying a new Porsche I'd have the Cayman. 911s are for midlife crises, and Boxsters are gay.
