Do i run thermostat in a dry deck setup? Due to different flow rates?

yes. the flow rate is the same, it's just the coolant is taking a different path through the engine

unless your not running a heater( and have it blanked...) I'd put a small hole in there... jut a couple of mm just to let air bleed through, unless it already has the hole with jiggle pin

Just put the water pump to head bypass hose in. The hole in the head is blacked of with a big screw.

why would you need the head to pump bypass hose???

Hypothetically speaking, where would you stick your nozzle?

to allow some coolant circulation if you have no heater etc.

So in theory if you wasn't running a thermostat you would need the restriction plate.... But if you too the internals out of the std thermostat that would regulate the flow to be the same? ??

The thermostat doesn't regulate flow, it opens and closes based on temperature.

You need some form of bypass, either the factory method, a heater, a sandwich plate etc or you will just be pumping water against a closed thermostat.

Ok so bringing up an old thread.
I'm not running a dry deck, I do have a heater so does that mean I don't have to drill the thermostat?
I'd like to get the pump without the bypass just because of all the horror stories about the hose. So what's the benefit of having the heater in place?

I have no problem with the hose, the problem arises when people fit those shit concertina type ones, fit a kevlar or silicone bypass hose cut to the right length and using good clamps and you'll be fine bud
