I know this might be a stupid question but anyway, I im coming very near now to driving my mini and i was wondering as i travel about 50 miles a day will the mini take it. It did for 2 years with the standard 998cc. I travel 22 miles to work. 22 back and then about 8 miles driving around in the night to the gym Etc.

Its just a standard metro turbo engine which i was hoping to run 8 PSI. The guy i bought the engine off said it done 69000 miles in the metro.

Will my mini live at least a year before the gear box dies, because ill have no money to fix it.

If you drive it sympathetically and service it regularly and keep your fingers crossed, it should do......

as tom said, it should do, assuming you keep to low boost (8psi) but I doubt you will, I think you'll be trying 12, 13, 14.... before you know it

Mate any 2nd hand engine is gonna be a gamble. You know that or you wouldn't be asking!

Total strip down and inspection is the only way.
A harsh but true fact lol.

Fingers crossed for you anyway!

Thanks im keeping my fingers crossed too. If i can keep it running low boost for 6 months or so I will be able to save enough money for the engine rebuild.

Just fit a 4-pin diff and drive sensibly, servicing regularly with good quality oil.. And rolling road it to make sure that the mixture is right.

I donated, but somehow didn't get the label! :(

I did not know why the car was sparking I was going to get an auto elctrican to it. But my friend with an RSturbo said he`ll have a look at it. Ive had a new sports coil and leads, when he looked at it he told me the dizzy was fattys.

Maybe then its is only the module, if so this would save me alot of money.

Make sure its the right one, don't trust Minisports word for it. If its the "Lucas Sport" coil with the anodised gold casing its the WRONG coil.
