Check the timing with a timing light. to see if it is actually sparking where it should spark

if the plugs are wet it may be over fueling/flooded. you will need to leave the plugs out and let the fuel evapourate for a while.

BPR8 plugs won't make your life easy, try 6's to get it running, then use colder plugs IF you need to. |

confirm the spark is sparking where it is supposed to using the timing light as you would normally! THEN look at other things when its checked out good On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

take the plug out of no 1 ,put it on its lead and earth it ,then take a big screwdriver and hold its handle up against the plug hole ,and get someone to spin the engine over ,the chuff of gas squeezing out past the handle is compression ,see if the spark on the plug tip happens at that point . Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM |

As it's wasted spark, there is a chance it's all firing 180 degrees out. So a quick check is to swap the leads. put 1&4 on 2&3.

will try that too will. wasnt sure if it was if the timing was out. when #1 is tdc the pickup sensor is 7 teeth after the missing tooth. didnt check if it was compression stroke though because i was getting ratty with it. i hate ignition setups. balls to the blower!!!

As will says, set the engine at TDC on the firing stroke on number 1

when #1 is tdc the pickup sensor is 7 teeth after the missing tooth. looking at the 'front' of the engine (the end with the fan and pullies) the crank rotates clockwise. The sensor should be before the missing tooth, not after it at TDC On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
