Evening gents,

I'm about to embark on an engine build, my first from scratch as I've just bought the bits and bolted together before really!

Im going to be building a twin cam engine utilising a k1200 rs head and some omega +20 cast 16v pistons with 7cc dish. I've now got my base unit which is a metro turbo engine and box( I wasn't going for a turbo but the unit was the right price and still on its standard bore etc)

My end spec is to build it as na at first and then make the move across to force induction at a later date. From discussions with SC this is relativley easy to do by putting one of there special head gaskets in, all be it a slightly thicker one to drop the compression once it goes FI.

I don't have a timeline to finish and I want to have a go at it myself. Are there any decent engine/gearbox rebuild guides which I could use to follow, mainly I want to be sure I make all the right checks and follow the correct sequences etc.

I already have the SC build guide but I want something more about the basic engine and box. anyone know of anything that's good or have there own written procedures?

Thanks
Andy

Get that 1380 DVD that was out not so long ago, its alway good when you have the DVD player next to you as you do it. it also shows how to do the gearbox.

simon.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

There is no such thing as 'insignificant weight saving', it all adds up.

Metro haynes manual is good for reference. Far better than the mini ones for engine/ transmission. Can be bought for a couple of quid on ebay

As recommended by will and I have found to be the most simple and detailed at the same time

des hammill 4 cylinder short block High performance manual .

Top stuff!

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

an older edition of the Haynes manual is all you need. That'll be the light blue one, not the royal blue one, or the maroon one

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
