finally sorted out the firing issue on the sprite. now, when it fires up, it runs for about 3 seconds, then dies. plugs are wet and got a good spark. anyone any ideas to check?

carb has been rebuilt from a hif44 using a turbo rebuild kit. what way would you recommend for setting up the mixture? not sure if it would be different being a turbo set up. couldnt see any obvious air leaks tbh.

Are you still on a dizzy? Could be condenser or ignition module. Does it restart again straight away? And is it always the same amount of time before it cuts out or does it vary |

nope canems ecu. loaded a map from on here as a starter to get it to run. doesnt always start straight back up. if i leave it 5 mins then it will fire up, then die again. its about the same time before cut out. start it up, revs up to idle then dies. balls to the blower!!!

Sounds like too much fuel, the give away is that after you have left it a short while, it will start again.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

right been trying again today with this. it wont even fire up at all now!!!!! drained and refilled the dashpot oil with atf to see if that helps. checked the choke was correct. all good. checked the needle valve was seated correctly by having fuel pump running without the dashpot on. no fuel coming out. removed the intercooler pipe at the plenum and turned it over just in case there was a block somewhere. checked the carb needle and its a std BCA. got decent fuel in it and new plugs and leads. did a compression check on all cylinders and all about 150psi. only thing i didnt check was the fuel pressure as my pressure gauge hasnt arrived yet, but i am defo getting fuel to the carb. the plugs dont even look soaked either now.

Standard turbo needle is BDD. BCA will chuck loads of fuel in mid to high rev's.

It should start and run with that needle as the idle bits are the same. Chances are your plugs have died from being wet. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:
