hi to all
a little help please as this one is doing my head in.
my standard mini turbo has had a new clutch slave and ne plunger and new arm all fitted by a clutch garage and all work fine it was there for 5 weeks though.
now i have been running the car and it will start and run fine it does need a ttune but still goes well,so i will do a run in it then stop and when i go to drive again it will get to 3000rpm the start to back fire and sounds like its running on 3 cylinders, or getting flooded, will pull over and it idles fine will rev up fine so will pull off and it will do the same again.
i will leave it a day or so then it will run fine do a long run no problem stop, then ill start again and it will back fire and run like shit.
so before i start to break thing down could it be
1,no good ht lead breaking down when getting hot
2,spark plug
3,fuel problem
it all seems strange that it will run fine then wont any help will be great thanks...

ok i am planning on doing that, but im a bit worried that if i do it will get there run fine and leave and the problem comes back as i dont want to take it there running like a bag of bolts pay for the session then have to get the bits to sort it and go back again. it has to be something simple as it runs and not runs there must be a fault when its up to temp or something getting clogged up,it could be a case of dodgy fuel from a garage but thats unlikly.

Start with the basics. Change all the ignition components and see if it fixes it. Then check your fuel system and pressure etc etc

Are you running the Metro turbo distributor?

If so, I suspect the module on the side of it.

I had lots of probs with this until I went megajolt.

I have had exactly the same symptoms with my ERA, tried everything, replaced every ignition component in turn with known good from another ERA I had, fault stayed with the problem car, ran with a lo gauge on fuel supply for a few runs when it was doing it, and fuel pressure was OK, eventually tracked it down to the rivets on the back of the fuse box being loose and crudded up new fusebox solved it..

Are you using the anti run on valve from the Metro? If so, remove it and blank the connection to the carb.
