hi all

i have been offered a TF035 turbo off a subaru forester the EJ20 engine model for free.

just wanting to know if i would be able use this size turbo on a 1275cc engine, is it to big for a large bore motor has anyone tried one before.

your thoughts would be great.

It'll likely be a VF, not aware of any "TF" turbochargers on a Subaru.

Forester does use a smaller turbo than even the tiny TD04 on a UK turbo, so it would be feasible to use it. It might still be a little big though, just depends on your goals.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Going by this map: http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4412/tf035.jpg

I would say if anything its probably too small for a 1275, unless your only running low power, maybe more suited to a fast 998.

As 1 m^3/s = 1.46 Lb/min
And you can approximate max power using 1 lb/min = about 10 bhp

Which means it should be good for 110-120

jakejakejake1 could you please make me a map for my turbo and if it will be suitable, I have a 1275cc metro turbo with a turbo phil head with bigger 24cc chambers. The turbo choice I have is a T25 and a hybrid T2/Gt15 with a 360 thrust bearing.

Sorry would try to attemp to do this myself, but have not got a clue on how to do it.

Cheers

Bobby

I cant make the map for you, but I can tell you how to work out if a turbo will be suitable for your car by looking at the map.
Do you have any more info on the T25 and hybrid turbos as there are different varieties?
And what kind of power are you looking/ hoping for?

This pdf makes for some good basic reading of maps: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0Tech%20103.pdf

Plenty refferences to TF035 Mitsi turbos on Subaru Forester, usually how to upgrade to TD04.

by nature of the engine it is used on, it should easily give 165hp, but i see people complaining that it only starts to spool at around 3000rpm

ultimately depends on the rest of the model number describing what TF35 turbo it is, since the maps advertized don't fit the engine profile they are supossedly fitted to

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
