After being surprised earlier in the year to be informed that running the engine at 74 degrees is a bit old hat now most of us are running unleaded fuel I was wondering what thermostat I should be running on a N/A 1380 for which maximum power is desired - sod fuel economy.

I am about to fit my thermostat and are am curious about which I should fit 74, 82 or 88 degrees.

Cheers

James

The cooler stat will be better for power and it will see the engine more resistant to detonation.

That applies to any engine, old school, new school, or anywhere in between.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Betwix Harrogate and York

I run an 88, but it never gets to 88 unless in traffic.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

i run a 74 in my turbo. it runs super cool with the min-its alloy rad, doesnt really go over this temp in traffic or after giving it a bit of stick...
