while the car was up when putting the fuel lines in a did a quick grab'n'shake test on the rear wheels, and there is a little play there.

The play is in and out (as u face the wheel), will a swing arm repair kit solve this? like this kit from DSN..

In my experience, only the shaft wears. Thiw means you "could", I emphesize "could" get away with only changing the shaft. This means you won't have to worry about reaming new bushes etc.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

In my experience, either the shaft wears, and/or the needle roller at the outer end breaks up, and/or the brass bush at the inner end wears oval.

Personally for ease and speed of job, when I used to work at a Mini Centre, we would usually just fit a recon radius arm. They are fairly reasonably priced and all you have to do it bolt it on, job done.
But as Benross says keep them well greased! One shot of grease every week!

yep a new arm is the best route about £35 for one.

but having said that ive just got away with for the last 7 years just buy replacing the pins, also turning the pin round 180 deg helps no end aswell.

last time at castlecoombe i bout a load of pins for £2 each wihich i thought was pretty handy.

but you must check it all out and see.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

You need an ajustable parallel reamer to ream the bush, and they ain't cheap.

A recon arm is definatly the best option unless you have access to the correct tool. Some mini clubs might own one so ask around.
