I have recently purchased cheaply a low milage complete engine to relieve it of it's cylinder head. I have tried to unbolt the head from the block and can't loosen the head bolts. I don't want to force any thing with a long leaver bar, I was wondering if the head is bolted down through the block to the bottom end? Or just into the deck of the block as per mini.

Thanks Chris

Its just the head bolts.

Depending on which engine you have depends on the type of bolt, some have hcap head bolts, others have a star point head. Be sure your socket or key is the correct fit. I've had to drill some off before now

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I'd just use the correct 1/2" drive bit and a 36" breaker bar. if they round off then, you'll be drilling them out anyway
