if someone (ie me) had decided to put the fuel return line back into the fuel feed line instead of the tank, after the pump, what would it do to the regulator??
balls to the blower!!!

You can put it to the pump suction without a problem. If you put it after the pump you will have no return flow at all as pump discharge pressure will be higher than return pressure. |

it will cause a problem the return has to go to a low pressure point on the fueling system Yes i moved to the darkside |

what will happen is you will over power the regulator and it will force its way into the carb,

it wont split the regulator diaphragm since the pressure will be the same either side, since the pressure is the same either side of the diaphragm there is no regulation and the fuel pressure will rise to what ever the fuel pump can sustain, which will be considerably higher than the desired 3psi. high fuel pressures have been known to overcome the float valve in the carb and flood the engine, which is the initial problem being suffered by this engine. Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

thought as much. will commence on re plumbing it all back in correctly. i fully expect the diaphragm to be fucked so will rip it apart and have a look. its amazing how something can just puzzle you for weeks, then all of a sudden, in the middle of asda, it comes to you! thank you everyone. balls to the blower!!!

I'd be more concerned about dumping litres of fuel into the engine !!!

ha ha. too late, already did that last week! it wasnt spewing fuel in massive amounts into the engine though. not enough to spray out of the plug hole anyway! it did fire up, but then cut out after a couple of seconds. balls to the blower!!!
