Hi all.

I'm rebuilding a mini to put a charged engine in. It has a whole new floor welded in etc... Now I started on the a panels and nose... I placed my subframe back with a new solid mounting kit. But I stumbled on to a problem... On the right side the wing and a panel touch at the top but have a 1.3 cm gap at the bottom. On the left side the a panel and wing have a 5 mm gap from top to bottom.
I bolted the front panel to the subframe and then clampt the wings on. Than clampt the scuttle panel and wings together...so in I tought everithing would line up... All panels are heritage.
The nose should become a flip front in the end.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

Do you still have inner wings?

I seriously doubt it!

No. They where rotten so cut off. ( half is left on 1 side tought it would help with the alignment but that is the worst side. It does all line up nice with bonnet. It's like the nose is pointing upwards.

it is hard without photos to really tell; I assume you have mounted the front panel using the solid mounts? if so, I'd try mounting up the panels without mounting the front panel to the subframe and see how it sits then.

I had to do this on mine and then bolt it up to get everything to line up.

when fitted my front end i welded the front panel to the wings before fitting. the wings can only fit in one place on the front panel so you can then align the wings to the a labels without it bolted to the subframe and see how front out the holes are from lining up.

Can i upload pica's from a mobile phone here? Otherwise i take some tonight or tomorrow. Yes full solid mounted now. But just to weld it toghether. It supposed to become a flip front. So needs to fit without pulling and punching. Pfff had a sleepless night and bad day at work thinking about it. Can it be that I might have deformed the floor where the subframe is bolted against... ?

Had that in mind to but was then thinking that the hole nose would sit croucet ( eum not straight) becous I have a gap that gows from 0 to 1.5 cm on 1 side and a gap from 0.5 on the other side.

Pic is just a test. If it comes up ill take some in 20 minutes.

As said above, try clamping all the panels up without fitting the mounts for the front panel

The A panel and wing at the A post are sitting too low.

make sure you fit the doors first and get the gaps and the waist line correct. Then fit the A panel and again, get the door gap and waist line correct, then fit the wing. Fettle the wing so it fits tight up to the scuttle.

The wings usually need a good push and pull to get the correct shape, and without inner wings, you'll have to guess at it.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
