Does anybody know of anyone local that's a reasonable price that can do the welding on my mini? About 3 years ago I bought a new wing to put on and a Clarke mig but never attempted it. The wing, front bulkhead crossmember where the subframe mounts, patch on boot floor, possibly an a panel and im sure a couple of other bits need attention.

Keith Timson (his mk1 is on here somewhere) hadn't held a welding torch before he started that project and now it is a thing of beauty.

get stuck in - its the best way to learn and you'll never look back once you can weld yourself

Me and john did an evening bodywork course at wakie college over at cas. It was spot on to get me going and not expensive.

Also have a good read on www.mig-welding.co.uk lads of good beginners guides on there.

Getting your wire speed right is key. No matter what power setting....you will here a crisp sound when its right. Too low you'll get blobs of metal every where....too high you will have lumps of wire sprouting! The more confident you get, the higher the power/voltage you can go for. :)
