That is expensive, you can get them for around £40 posted usually, but I am not sure whether you are in the UK or not (I would assume not though).

Hi Amp,

I'm living in the Netherlands, they are unfortunately not so common over here.

For a bit more euro's you can buy a new cam.

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

This is true. Have a look for a Kent 500. Basically the same cam.

To be honest that one you showed us looks a bit worn to me, but I am no expert.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that that cam is a re profiled cam.

ask the seller to measure the lobe lift, and then compare it with the information here http://www.mlmotorsport.com/forum/index.php?topic=11.0

measure the lobe lift using a digital caliper. place the caliper around the base circle of the lobe and then zero the measurement. Now rotate the cam to find the peak lobe lift.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice, I let it go, it looked quite worn to me as well.

The kent 266,sw05 and the mg cam shafts are near as makes no difference the same profiles. There's some small differences in the lsa and lca figures but if your looking to put it in a turbo application the lift at overlap, opening and closing timing and durations are pretty much identical. Each of the above is superior to the others in different areas but as with all engine builds its what your looking to do which will decide which cam delivers the qualities your looking for. Those who disagree flame away.

Just had a good look at the third link and if my eyes are not deceiving me the case hardened tip of that lobe has worn through. Compare that image to the lobes in the other two pictures and you will see what I mean. On the evidence of the photos give this cam a wide berth.

Thought the Mg was a 256 profile? I've been corrected on that before.

BTW That's a question, not a 'flame'. Whatever a 'flame' may be...

Are you deranged?

Duration........
The 266 is 260/270
The SW5 is 244/244
The MG is 252/268

Overlap........
The 266 is 53 degrees
The SW5 is 28 degrees
The MG is 45 degrees

Lobe lift..........
The 266 is ~6.68/ 6.81mm
The SW5 is ~ 7.14/ 7.14mm
The MG is ~ 6.68/ 6.68mm

In what way are these three cams the same? There is a lot more to a cam than just duration.

From a practical point of view, the 266 does not drive as well as the 500 IMO

well, thanks for the advice again.

Actually it was always the idea to use a 266, only the MG cam passed by on an advertisement site, and that's how I got interested. I searched the forum to get some more info about the MG-cam and found out that it was quite a good cam as well for the turbo Mini's.
