Hi all,

I have some trouble with my oil return. Because I didn't want to cut in my pickup, I made a manifold to fit an old type (oil cooled) R5 T2 turbo close to the block. It all fits great! The only problem is the oil return. The outlet of the turbo housing is only slightly higher then the fuelpump-hole. I made some sort of connection, but now it keeps leeking. It's simply not sufficient....

Is there an alternative position for the return hose without drilling in my gearbox. I know I have to stay above oil level.
Thanks in advance!

Simple answer is not really.

My mates Imp has the turbo below sump level, so he has a scavenge pump on the oil return. You can then put the return where you want; the breather on the transfer case would be easiest.

Post a picture of your setup.

A restrictive oil return will generally show as smoke out the exhaust as the oil isnt escaping the housing freely, so blows past the seals.

What you're describing sound like an oil leak. Which is just an oil leak. How have you done it ?

No pics available...

The oil return is not restricted. The only problem is the bad connection because of the tight space... Now the engine is out of the car I can make it right this time...

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

That sound like it's worth a try!
Is the oil level below the top of this casing?
