Hi all,

Ok I'm wanting to build a drag strip only mini and have a question about wheel size.

I would like to use 10" rims on road tyres AO32r, but not over sure how wide I should go!

I've noticed a lot of guys on the forum using 6x10 rims for strip with road tyres, I have ether 10x5 0r 6x10 mamba or 7x10 split rims. Does it make much difference at all really?

Any help of this matter would be great.

Thanks
Martin

Ideally you need 5 x 10 with 165 tyres, I only have 6 x 10 cos I think they look nice

I seriously doubt it!

Hi paul, thanks for the reply. I.m using 165 tyres. could you use 6x10 for extra foot print for launch and 5x10 on rear for less drag? or am i talking s**t lol

thanks
martin

Depends what you want, if you want more grip, then 13" wheels with a wider tyre will be better.

Was looking at slick tyres for future use, but have new ao32r tyres for now and like the look of 10" wheels.

Rim size has nothing to do with it, the tyre is still 165 wide but it will (apparently) work better on a 5J rim

I seriously doubt it!

Got ya, think I remember reading some place about 167/70 r10 can only really be fitted to 6" with out stretching. Cool well will look into maybe running 5x10 rims for now.

Thanks for the input so far guys

Hi, well the plan is to build a 998 turbo drag mini using a past project mini I've managed to get back. No photos as of yet, got to finish the spi first. Will put up a build log when I start

Hope to get cracking soon ready for 2014 drag strip action.

Lol, yes was a nice mini till it got hit and then left out side for 4 years. Will be nice again one day.

Jet kart was fun, if a little scary. Lots to go wrong. Shit my self everytime I started it and sat on it!!
