Your tyre person is not clued up then, people ha e been running 10x7 and 165's for years yoko even state the a032 4.5-7" rim compatability. I know of somone who runs 165 on an 8j rim!

owkido. so if it can be done...... he's the local shop here. sheep good service but mainly trucks and tractors. so guess that i need to save up than ( posting the wheels back and forward to the uk will cost me the same money as splitting them) thanks to point out it can be done. (didn't want to use wheelspacers to fill the arches) you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
