You'll probably find every one on here is using the same joint with no issues,

In what way are they breaking?

so are under quite abit of preasure, some of the other autotesters recon GKN are the best but they say they dont seem to make them anymore. Has anyone heard of a supplier for these?

Well you are putting them through the mill with that then. There may be a better joint out there, but the MS one is proved good on many cars.

How long are they lasting between changes?

What about the larger allegro joints or whatever people used to use?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I broke one about a month ago and replaced it with a new minispares one. Two events later that broke too. Anyone know anything about the GKN ones? the guys using these seem to only ever break shafts.

I'd contact them direct and ask for a local distributor if these are the ones to use.

my gut is that you will have to be specific with any supplier as GKN will be one of a number of manufacturers they could obtain the part from

find a bigger joint and machine it to suit? i got sick of changing CV's bearings and balljoints regularly (amongst other reasons) and converted to metro k-series hubs. Sadly real life has ment i have not been able to test the reliability of the setup but all the parts are much meatier, though for your application lots more work may be required with the steering arms etc..
Few of the lads on 16vminiclub are wandering down this road, a lovely example:

much neater than my bodge-fest.

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
