o/t throttle body lengths..

Hi, i noticed that jenvey sell different length throttle bodies, obviously the smaller body length (something like the 90mm rather than the 118mm) would fit the mini engine bay better..

How does the length affect performance, is it similar to trumpet size?

paul S did a it of a write up/discussion on this a while back,

basically, you can assume longer is better as you'll probably run out of room before top end starts to drop off, iirc your looking for about 350-400mm from valve to bellmouth for peak power around 7k

Slightly ot, I dont know of it helps but im geussing your doing another 1.6 vaux engine. Bmw k1's plenisdumbdebum that goes onto the tbs have curved ram pipes inside, you could maybe be able to do the same for yours, no idea if its helpful though

Cheers chaps - i will have a read of the write up Paul did. 1800 this time, and yeah I think 118mm bodies with 90mm pipes would be ideal.. It's just a mater of squeezing them in.

What about a miglia style bhb?

The inlet face on the head of the 1800 is angled slightly upwards.. This might help a bit but will need to buy the itb's to find out. If not then your right, a bulkhead box of some kind will have to be fabricated.
