Was thinking about getting my subframe and a few other bits coated... My brake callipers are filthy and chipped, ideally I'd like to get them powder coated but wondered is it possible?

I'm thinking the shot blasting and then the coating could get into the internals and knacker them? I imagine you could plug the fluid lines and bleed valve but not sure how you would cover the brake disc 'slot'?

Has any one done this successfully?

Cheers.... Dave.

Plugging the fluid holes would be easy.

Ensuring the piston/seal area remained usable would be much harder.

Although I guess you could make something up to protect that area, and just dont powder coat it. Paint it afterwards.

I wouldnt do it, anytime ive had anything powdercoated, it seems to somehow get into the holes and bits you dont want it to.

Or just leave old pistons and seals in, blast/coat them.

Remove old seals and pistons and replace with new.

As an old school restoration type chap,
I would always paint it, ideally with a heat resistant one, cheapo is the stove black.
DONT hamerite or like. My young lads callipers were like a steam train the last forest rally because of, even though I said looks dont win fair lady!!.
If I can shame him enough to put a picture up that I have great, please dont rely on my to do it!!

engine enamel in what ever go faster colour you require is available, usually in brit green( avacado at least) gay blue, slow passion red or the fastest colour is::

If you want them to look really smart, have the cast bits gently blasted and then zinc plated.

Here are some I did recently for my 205.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
