Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps, dragged the tangerine out today and took it for a wash. One thing is it bogs down from low revs, I have to rev the engine to get it rolling. I also can't really dump the throttle from these revs as its stutters to fuck. It's always been like this and just assumed it was the cam as its a morspeed track cam, similar to a phase 3 cam. If that's how it is I can live with it, however am I missing something? Is it my carb spring? Or could I change my timing lower down?

Thanks

Mike

Yeah the afrs are lean at tick over and its more like a miss I had a little play with idle mixture but didn't go crazy. Does anyone have John and Andys van map? It's the same one.

3in 1!! get some 20/50 in there!

plug gaps, tap the plug electrode to shut it up a bit, try 20 thou gap. although to be honest wide plug gaps normally show up on boost first.

Don't use the vans map. It's very aggressive of boost. Doesn't suit a lot of engines.

I used to use single grade gearbox oil (80w or something daft) on the TT whe it had a carb.

It's also got a lot of advance in low boost area's, think we were lucky not run into det with it. Good reason for using an RR with det cans *wink*

Shows how 'different' such similar engines can be.

Does your head have a beak in Brett? All I can say is that I never heard any det by ear and niether did John Sleath when we had it rollered. Same reason why whenever I gave anyone the van's map that I did so with a disclaimer! lol

Van's pistons showed no signs of det either when we pulled lump apart. Std turbo pistons are definately underrated!

The chaps on that rolling road day said it was detting it's tits of at low rpm. that's why it didn't get a big power figure....

Det on mine was very audiable even more so with my detcans 28 cc with beak 8.25ish cr
Mine and benny spec was closest and we ran exactly the same map iirc the gt20 is chomping at the bit at part throttle 22-27%throttle sees me into boost at maybe 2krpm
You can feather this back to keep the boost off but this is where mine was detting most
