you should be able to change gears and certainly find neautral by putting a screwdriver through the roll pin hole on the selector rod at the back of the gearbox and moving it. id depends what you mean the head is fitted loosley - you will struggle to turn an engine over by hand with the head on it. |

I have just taken the head off now, checked that the gearbox is neutral, by fitting a gear linkage on and gear lever and made sure its in neutral. Still no joy |

No I cannot since the timing gear is on, I have not fitted the flywheel housing, so no clutch or pressure plate fitted |

Non spacer drum brake screws or cut down spacer drum brake screws also do the job On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

You also need to threadlock the countersunk screws in place to stop them working loose.

Rod has that engine pictured been on the bottom of the sea?? It wouldn't surprise me knowing the person I bought it from... But in reality it hadn't been run for 18 years when I dismantled it (I wanted the crankshaft and the duplex gears) and had been in various damp sheds for those 18 years.
